This Honda Civic 1.6i LS might just be a perfect fit for the definition of a good car. Reliable? Check. Practical? Check. Economical? Check. Fun? Check. Comfort? Check.
Reliability comes from the renown D16 engine, in V1 guise for this car that rolled off the line in July 2004. It produces 110hp and is known for being virtually bulletproof.
Practicality comes from its 5 doors, compact size but great interior space and myriad of livability solutions, like cupholders, storage spaces and clever cubbys everywhere. It sits four adults very comfortably.
Economy is not only provided by its purchase price, but also by its running costs. The average fuel consumption is under 7 liters per 100km. Parts are available everywhere and for very cheap, your yearly maintenance will cost you less than a fancy dinner.
Fun is provided by Honda’s infamous VTEC. The D16 loves to rev, and provides great sound and reasonable power from it. The gearbox feels great like in any Honda and the odd position of the gear knob is actually very enjoyable due to its closeness to the steering wheel.
Comfort comes from the equipment the LS trim comes with, including alloy wheels, front fog lights, central locking, automatic climate control, heated mirrors, a multimedia radio and a trip computer.
All in all, this Civic is the reasonable option whatever the question is. A first car? Excellent choice. A commuter? Does it perfectly. A weekend getaway car? It’ll take you there.
