Delivered new in Marseille in April of 1976, it spent until 2006 in France, on its original registration and in completely stock form. In 2006, the current owner imported it to Spain and has kept it since, so this beauty is a two owner car.
Documentation includes everything from the original bill of sale, the original “plaques noires” and the stamped maintenance book, to period pictures, FIA homologation documents and even stickers delivered with the spare wheel. It is clinically documented.
In its last twenty years the car has been used only for events and regularity rallyes. All the equipment is easily removable and all the original parts are included with the sale, down to the glovebox cover, where the screws for the Terratrip are in the original holes as not to damage anything.
Underneath, the car is as clean as can be. No leaks, no rust, no accidents. All numbers of the chassis, engine and specification match the original documentation. Truly remarkable.
The Daytona Yellow exterior has been repainted once and to a high standard. All the stickers are removable and not only period correct, but actually original from their time.
Inside, the astonishment continues. Every panel and every bit of upholstery is original and in exceptional condition. The steering wheel is reupholstered to fit the owner’s desire of a thicker rim. Removable if desired.
After just a few meters of driving this impeccable RS2000, you will realize how much care has been given to this car. It runs and drives like a dream, shifts and steers precisely and the 2.0l, in-line 4, OHV engine producing 110hp feels lively and awake.
I am convinced this is one of the best MkII Escort RS2000s on the market. Everything from the documentation, to the bodywork, interior, underside and driving experience are second to none.
