This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S, also known as a “Ponton”, is a head-turner like no other. Nobody doesn’t like a 50s Mercedes-Benz, especially on its original, 6-digit plates from Barcelona.
Having benefited from a complete restoration, this classic sedan is ready to be driven. The odometer shows 70.000km, but the total mileage is unknown and the work done to the car in the last years, is extensive enough to consider it secondary.
The car was bought burgundy, the body has been completely stripped, rust-proofed and repaired, to be painted in its original delivery colour, 169 Stone Grey.
The engine, brakes, exhaust, gearbox and suspension have also been overhauled extensively. The interior, has also been redone fully at a specialized shop, with new upholstery and restored wood, all whilst keeping the car’s originality.
The whole process has been fully documented with pictures and bills, available for anyone that requests them.
The 6-cylinder with two double Solex carburettors starts at the touch of the key, runs smooth and drives excellent. The four-speed gearbox with a column mounted shifter with an H-pattern is easy to use and smooth.
Everything is working properly and has incredible charm, from the horn sound, to the touch of the metal, wood and cloth inside, to the striking classic looks, this car is effortlessly elegant.
